WESTBROOK — Salsa Maine will put on Maine’s first Latin Dance Festival, featuring two nights of dance, eight workshops and an amateur dance competition, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18.

The event, with professional dancers from Colombia and Boston, will be held at Pulse at 865 Spring St.

Instructors from Colombia, Egypt, Russia, Boston, Delaware and Maine will teach salsa, cha cha cha, merengue, samba, Argentine tango and other dances at workshops geared to both novices and seasoned pros.

The amateur dance competition will be held Saturday night. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place. There will be raffles and a cash bar.

If people register by Sunday, Sept. 12, prices range from $24.99 for a two-day dance pass to $64.99 for a package including four lessons of choice, performances, dance competition and two nights of dancing.

Discounts will be offered to anyone registering online by Friday, Sept. 10, at www.salsamaine.com.
