MEXICO — Police believe that a burglary Aug. 20 may be connected to at least four others in the same vicinity the following two weeks or so.

Mexico Police Department Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said a Swett Avenue resident reported that someone had heard noises coming from his yard the night of Aug. 19. At 5 p.m. Aug. 20, the resident reported that someone had forcibly entered his garage and shed, damaging the locks and hasps. It is not known whether anything was taken.

The next incident occurred Aug. 21 when an Angie Lane resident reported that several bicycle parts, valued at about $200, were taken from her yard.

On Sept. 3, a Brigham Street resident reported the theft of a push lawnmower, valued at $75, from his front lawn.

On Sept. 7, two separate burglaries/thefts took place. A Fifth Street resident reported that someone had entered his garage and siphoned five gallons of gasoline from his all-terrain vehicle and lawnmower. Then, another Fifth Street resident reported that someone had entered his shed and took a three-gallon can of gas.

The most recent incident occurred Sept. 8 when someone entered the backyard shed of a Harlow Hill resident. Losses are not yet known.

Hodsdon said he has at least one suspect for all the incidents.
