WILTON – Sidney Wayne Martin, 53, of Wilton passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 9.
Sid was born on Feb. 9, 1957, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of Robert and Polly (McCoy) Martin. He graduated from East Liverpool High School and spent six years in the U.S. Navy, serving out of San Diego, Calif. He worked for 20 years at the Otis Mill in Jay as a process control technician, the last 15 years of which he operated his own business, CSS Inc. According to his coworkers, “Everyone liked Sid. He always had time for us, he was one of us. He always was there to help anyone in need. He was truly a man of many talents and will be missed.” Since 2006, he has worked at Central Maine Power.
Sid loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, playing with his faithful dogs and working in his lovely yard. Throughout the years, his other hobbies included raising animals, restoring classic cars, and many other projects along the way. Most of all, he loved sitting in the backyard next to a fire, listening to music, surrounded by friends and family. He had many friends from the Otis Mill and from deer camp, and although he was a tough man, he had a very loving heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Martha Martin of Wilton; his daughter, Nichole Martin of North Waterboro; and his son, Sidney R. Martin of Wilton.
He was predeceased by his parents.
