AUBURN — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project has arranged vigils across the counties they serve in order to honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, offer hope to those still facing abuse and support those who have survived domestic violence.
The Androscoggin County vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1. It will begin at Festival Plaza and include a candlelit procession to Raymond Park in Lewiston. Guest speakers from the community will share their impressions. Symbolic purple lighting will remain in Raymond Park for the rest of October.
The purple lights are part of a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and serve as a beacon of hope for the future. All are welcome to attend and show their support.
