AUBURN — Roger Langlois, 82, passed on Sept. 13, at Bolster Heights in Auburn, where he had been a resident since 2009.

He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 29, 1927, the son of Ovila and Marie Samson Langlois. He was a first generation Lewistonian, after his parents and siblings immigrated from St. Narcisse, PQ. Mr. Langlois grew up on Horton Street and attended St. Peter’s School and St. Dominic High School.

In 1952, he married the former Therese Mailhot upon his return from duty in Korea. She passed away in 2009. Together they raised their family at 14 Parker St., where they lived for 51 years and were parishioners of Sainte Croix Church. Mr. Langlois was employed by several optical laboratories, until he retired in 1990.

After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and taking winter vacations to Florida. He spent many days and vacations at Old Orchard Beach with his family and was an avid Pinochle player. He enjoyed gardening and tended his beautiful flower beds with much care. Family was always his priority and he spent many years caring for family members who were ill. He supported and encouraged his children in their personal and professional lives and he was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Liliana of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Peter Wagner of Wyman; son, Greg and his partner, David, of Portland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Constance and Bertrand Sutton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Claudette Mailhot and Paul and Debi Mailhot; grandchildren, Jason and Kevin Sirois, Kimberly Jasniewski and Elliott and Christine Langlois; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Sebastian, Dylan, Cole, Devon, Samara and Hayleigh Sirois.

Mr. Langlois was predeceased by his three brothers, Odias and wife, Marguerite, Lucien and wife, Louise and Alfred and wife, Yvette; and his two sisters, Eva and husband, Reneau Galipeau and Rose and husband, Fred Harlow.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Bolster Heights for the care and friendship they gave over the last two years.
