Board: Turner Selectmen
Met: Monday night
Junkyards renewed
Issue: Statewide, current auto and junkyard permits are set to expire Oct. 1 unless they’re locally renewed.
The scoop: After a public hearing and looking at photos of each site, selectmen approved renewals for Lester Quimby, Thomas Heikkinen, David Richardson and Jesse Walker.
Up next: George Spear and Dorothy Williams will receive their renewals as soon as a few on-site changes are made.
Wood to charity
Issue: Town Manager Eva Leavitt said that while mining gravel for winter sand, the town routinely cuts down trees to get access to the banking.
The scoop: Between three and four cords of wood have accumulated at the gravel pit.
Up next: The town has decided to donate the wood to the Rural Community Action Ministry for its fuel assistance program.
Appointments
Issue: Frances Rodgers was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals. There’s still one more opening on that board.
Up next: Selectmen needed more information before considering a candidate for the Planning Board slot.
