LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Laurier “Larry” Langlais was celebrated by the Rev. Lionel Chouinard Tuesday at Holy Family Church of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. Before leaving the funeral home for church fellow firefighters stood at attention in the courtyard of the funeral home in salute of Larry. Androscoggin County Deputy Sheriff Sgt. William Gagne led the funeral cortege to both the church and cemetery along with fire trucks representing the communities of Greene, Wales, Leeds, Turner, Monmouth, and Lewiston also trucks from CMP and United Ambulance were in procession. At the church, Larry’s two brothers, Robert and Richard Langlais draped their brother’s casket with the white burial pall that signifies Larry’s baptism into a new life with God. Readings were read by Larry’s nieces, Rachel Mair and Louise Fillebrown. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Larry’s brother-in-law, Roger Cadrin, and his wife, Nancy Cadrin, Larry’s sister. Words of remembrance were shared by Larry’s son, Normand before his father’s final blessing at church. Following a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, Father Chouinard recited committal prayers. At the conclusion of committal prayers, Greene Volunteer Fire Department Chief Phil Lavoie presented Larry’s fire fighting helmet to Larry’s son, Normand in recognition of his father’s dedication and bravery in service to the Greene Volunteer Fire Department and to the Town of Greene. Chief Lavoie then ordered county dispatch to broadcast a “last time call” for Lt. Laurier Langlais’s call sign 106 as a final tribute. Pallbearers were fellow volunteer firefighters, Assistant Chief Bruce Sanford, Capt. Joseph Brown, firefighters James Simones, Rod Gagne, Alton Goldrup, and Marshall Merrick. Chief Phil Lavoie also served as an honorary bearer.
