Candidates for office are great at making promises. During election time, people will hear quite a bit about delivering services for veterans. Unfortunately, very few follow through on their promises.

Congressman Mike Michaud has been the exception.

As a Vietnam-era veteran, I am proud to support Michaud for re-election. I greatly appreciate his efforts on behalf of the veterans of Maine. Whether increasing the budget at Togus, where thousands of veterans go to receive medical care, or building a new clinic in Lewiston-Auburn so veterans can get treatment closer to home, or finally getting the help for veterans affected by Agent Orange, Michaud has been at the forefront in helping Maine’s veterans.

In this election, it is important that veterans stick by people such as Michaud, who sticks by them.

Come Nov. 2, this veteran will be standing with Mike Michaud.

Philip Nelsen, Lewiston
