MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls – Minot – Poland Adult Education has openings in the following fall enrichment courses. Courses require preregistration and need a minimum number of students in order to run.

Registration may be made in person at 108 Lewiston St. or by mail at P.O. Box 129, Mechanic Falls, ME 04256. Registration forms may be printed from the website mechanicfalls.maineadulted.org. For more information, call 345-3217.

Adult Education is also looking for general interest instructors. Anyone with an area of expertise that they would like to share with the community may call the office or e-mail [email protected] to discuss possibilities. Teaching experience is not necessary.

Paper Sculpting: Wednesdays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Students will make a textured picture of their choice using paper pulp, canvas and acrylic paint. Paid registration of $30 must be received by Oct. 20.

College Financing for Adult Students: Wednesday, Oct. 27, 6:30 to 8 p.m. A FAME representative will give an overview of the student financial aid process, including scholarship information and career/college planning resources. Free. Call for location.

Lyme and Animals: Thursday, Oct. 21, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Discussion will involve tick identification, control, repellents, natural and other, and Lyme treatment for animals. Fee is $5.

Holistic Therapies for Autism: Thursday, Dec. 2, 6 to 8 p.m. The class will focus on many holistic strategies that positively address the many physical and emotional aspects of those on the autism spectrum. Fee is $6.

Belly Dance: Next session will begin Tuesday, Oct. 26, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Used for exercise, the class is fun but challenging. No experience necessary. Fee is $25 for six weeks.

Fitness for Life: Next session will begin Thursday, Oct. 28, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Step aerobics and resistance exercises for tone and strength. Fee is $25 for six weeks.

Heartsaver CPR/AED: Monday, Nov. 15, 6 to 9 p.m. Paid registration of $50 must be received by Nov. 1. Receive training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automatic external defibrillator.

Nutrient Dense Foods for Optimal Health: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 6 to 8 p.m. Based on the principles of Dr. Winston Price who studied nonindustrialized peoples and their native diets. Fee is $6.

Solar Technologies and Building a Solar Heater: Tuesday, Oct. 12, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Get information on solar hot air, hot water and electric system technologies. A panel will be on display along with the plans and a parts list. Fee is $6.
