MEXICO — A Renovation, Repair and Painting course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Mexico Town Hall.

The course is designed to inform landlords and contractors how to perform maintenance safely on homes with lead-based paint. Under the new EPA Lead Rule, which went into effect in April 2010, contractors performing projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 must be certified by attending a RRP course.

During the course, participants will learn specific work practices to prevent lead contamination and other requirements of meeting this EPA Rule.

A certified instructor from Maine Labor Group on Health Inc. will teach the course. The course is limited to 20 participants.

Preregistration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition at 364-7408  or e-mail [email protected] for information about vouchers for landlords or to register.
