The two-hour concert, with intermission, will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets for general seating are required. Call concert presenter L/A Arts at 782-7228 or visit www.laarts.org.
The Band of Liberty is made up of a select group of active duty personnel/musicians who perform for official military, recruiting, and community-relations events. It has played for military and civilian audiences throughout New England for more than 30 years.
Known originally as the 541st Air Force Band of the Southwest and stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., the unit relocated to Pease AFB in New Hampshire in 1978. Renamed the Air Force Band of New England in 1991, the group began to spread its musical message throughout New England. In 1991, the band received its current name and was assigned to Electronics Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, in Massachusetts.
The 45 members are assigned to two primary ensembles: the concert band and the Afterburner popular music group. The band also has several subgroups, including the Ceremonial Band, Liberty Jazz Band, Colonial Brass, New England Winds, Mach Four and the Bay State Winds.
The band performs about 400 engagements a year, appearing at such venues as Lincoln Center in New York City and the Hatch Shell in Boston.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and ticketholders must be seated in the auditorium by 6:45 p.m.; any remaining seats will be offered to nonticketholders at that time. Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis.
