The recent article quoting Maine politicians bashing the tea party has exposed both the arrogance and ignorance that has inspired millions of concerned Americans into the streets and, more importantly, into the voting booths.

It is breathtaking to see those running for political office ignoring, minimizing and demeaning the voters who are feeling “Taxed Enough Already.” The tea party principles come from Democrats, Republicans and independents, decent Americans standing up to the arrogance of career politicians who believe we are too stupid to understand.

I have some advice to those who think we are not watching and too stupid to understand while they bribe each other with our children’s and country’s future: pick up a newspaper; they are in it. They are the ones being swept away in a tidal wave of common sense. I thank them for bringing thousands of Maine grassroots group members into the political process, on the Internet and into the voting booths.

We will send a clear message to those who try to divide Americans as “left wing kooks” and “right wing nut jobs” to keep their power.

Calling Americans “racists” and “stupid” is a clear sign of desperation. We will answer their arrogance with our vote. Just as on 9/11, 2001, when America was attacked, we will rise to the challenge.

In the face of this assault on our freedom and future, we will not be divided into political parties. We are Americans first.
