It has been written that perhaps Paul LePage could bring real fiscal conservatism to Maine government and its $1 billion debt. And there was a story out of LePage’s office how, as mayor, his insistence on no paving of a proposed snow dump site saved at least $100,000.
I love his personal story, how he was physically abused by his father and left home for the streets, then angels intervened and he was admitted to Husson College, then his MBA at the University of Maine. He worked with struggling companies to help them turn around and became general manager of Marden’s, where the stores grew from six to 15.
LePage rose from the ashes to both business and political success. Journalists have called him motivated, focused and a straight-shooter.
He advocates business-friendly policies, less regulation, lower taxes and welfare reform. Paul LePage has proved himself, rising from nothing. He deserves voters’ support.
