WEST PARIS — Ruth Eleanor Bethel, 99, formerly of Bethel, passed peacefully on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born April 12, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of David and Ethel (Gott) Connard. She was married March 7, 1936 to George H. Bethel Sr.

A devoted wife and mother, she will be deeply missed by her son, George H. Bethel Jr. and his wife, Barbara Ann, of Bethel; a granddaughter, Deborah Ann Connolly and her husband, Michael, of Westbrook; a grandson, George Scott Bethel and his wife, Marcy, of Falmouth; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob, Michael and Noah.

She was predeceased by her husband, George H. Bethel Sr.
