SOUTH PARIS — Earlon A. “Bud” Paine, 88, of 25 Chapman St., Bethel, died on Oct. 20, at the Maine Veterans’ Home with his family at his side.
“Bud” much enjoyed his work in the postal service for 40 years and retired as postmaster in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy 1944 to 1946, was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church, Bethel Historical Society, Bethel American Legion, past master of the Bethel Masonic Lodge and long term member of the Greeter’s Unit Kora Temple Shrine of Lewiston. “Bud” received the Henry H. Hastings Citizenship award for Bethel in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Dorion Paine of Bethel; one daughter, Linda Jackson of Fredricton, N.B., Canada; one son, Richard Paine and partner, Elaine Jacques, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Amy Collins and her husband, Jeffrey, of Exeter, N.H., Jameson Paine and his wife, Carmen, of Stratham, N.H., and Richard Jackson of South Paris; also deeply loved by four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sarah Lawthers and her husband, Michael, of Bluffton, S.C.; and a very special niece, Terri Defillip of Auburn.
“Bud” asked his family not to have any special service in his memory. He believed that you never die when you live in the hearts of loved ones left behind.
