To me, the term “state representative” is simple — someone who will represent the people.
For those people living in House District 87 (Chesterville, Jay, New Sharon, Mercer and Starks), there is a problem. We don’t have a voice in Augusta, at least, not in my opinion.
Rep. Paul Gilbert has consistently voted against his constituency’s wishes. His support of same-sex marriage was wrong and the voters repealed the law.
His support of taxing car repairs and 102 other new taxes was also repealed.
Gilbert even supported the infamous new tax (LD 1264), the baby tax, the tax on surgery and hip replacements.
He supported a 10-cent gasoline tax.
Gilbert is a nice guy but his voting record is to tax everything he can.
I support Tony Couture for House District 87. He will better represent his constituency.
