AUBURN — Jeanne M. Labonte, 94, formerly of Bates Street in Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 22, at the Hospice House, with family at her side.

She was born in St. Gedeon, P.Q., Canada, May 14, 1916, a daughter of Joseph and Anna (Veilleux) Lambert, was educated in Canada schools and moved here with her family in 1925 at the age of nine.

Jeanne worked for many years as a stitcher at the Pepperell Mill, until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church and was a member of St. Anne’s Sodality. In her younger years, she was actively involved in the Pine Tree Warriors Drum and Bugle Corps for many years.

Among her favorite enjoyments was frequently dining out with her sister, Cecile and nephew, Bert. Jeanne was a loving, devoted and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves two daughters, Doris Brousseau and husband, Michael, of Greene and Joan Bernier of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Georgette Fortier of Wells.

Jeanne was predeceased by a son, Raymond Labonte; and a sister, Cecile Dutil.
