WINTHROP — Maine photographer Brian Vanden Brink will appear at the Charles M. Bailey Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Vanden Brink will give a slide presentation and discussion based on his latest work, “Ruin: Photographs of a Vanishing America,” a book which features a collection of his images from around the nation portraying an array of abandoned architecture ranging from farmhouses to a nuclear storage facility.
The book was recently awarded a New England Art Award critics choice for 2009 Best Book in New England. It also earned a Photo District News 2010 Photo award in the book category.
Vanden Brink has been photographing architecture for more than 30 years. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Down East, Boston Globe Magazine, Architectural Digest, Coastal Living, Design New England, New England Home, Maine Home + Design and scores of books and periodicals about architecture and design.
He lives in Camden with his wife, Kathleen. Admission to the event is free. For more information, call Richard Fortin at 377-8673.
