WILTON — The hometown of two candidates vying for Maine House District 90 favored Republican candidate Russell Black over Democratic candidate Irving Faunce on Tuesday by a vote of 1,199 for Black to 618 votes for Faunce.

Results from other towns in the district were not available. The seat represents the towns of Avon, New Vineyard, Phillips, South Franklin Township, Strong, Temple, Wilton and portions of Franklin Township.

The candidates ran for the seat of Thomas Saviello, also of Wilton, who served in the House for eight years.

Both candidates and Saviello serve as town selectmen in Wilton.

Black, a Wilton native and self-employed farmer, logger, building contractor, previously said he was running for the seat because he has concerns about the way the state is being run and feels he has the experience and common sense to help turn things around in Augusta. He has spent the past 25 years serving in town and county governments and is active in many business and civic groups.

Faunce, a blueberry farmer and property manager, said he sought the seat because of a deep commitment to the community and to public service and said he has professional experience at senior management levels of health care, leadership experience and knowledge of regional and local government to bring to the position.
