Once again the Foss Packard bowlers got busy on the L. & A. Alleys last night, and once more they made up in fun what they lost in high scores. Last night’s bowling, however, was quite an improvement over that of a week ago. Drake’s Five, although losing two of the three strings, won the total by three pins, and total pins win in this series. Capt. Drake was high man with a single of 101 and 273 for total.

A big fat pig owned jointly by four Lewiston police officers ran away yesterday while being led away for butchering.
Patrolman Anthony N. Emmi was taking the 140-pound pig from the Old Greene Road home of officer Guy Pilote when it took off, leash and all, across a field and into the woods. Emmi couldn’t catch it.
The pig is owned jointly by Officers Emmi, Pilote, Normand Poulin and Yvon Cote. It had disappeared into the woods at last report so the officers will have to wait for their pork chops.

Central Maine Medical Center has awarded some $17,875 in special endowment fund income to 91 area residents who have outstanding bills at the medical center, according to Robert E. Buchanan, assistant director/finance at CMMC.
Buchanan said the awards were applied to the accounts of former patients who have made efforts to pay their bills, despite obvious financial difficulties.
CMMC uses the income generated by 21 “free bed funds” to ease the financial burden of selected individuals considered to be deserving of financial assistance.
