LEWISTON — Anthony “Andy” Barker, 44, of Robert Avenue, Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Nov. 23, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Fort Fairfield on Dec. 1, 1965, the son of Elizabeth (Cyr) Sievert, and attended Mt. Ararat High School.
Andy was an inspiration to all who knew him. Following his rehabilitation due to his spinal cord injury, Andy did not give up. He helped organize the L-A Wheelers, a local handicap basketball team and later he pursued and enjoyed customizing, assembling and also racing handicap cycles and wheelchairs for bike-on.com. He also loved traveling with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Keri Alaniz-Barker of Lewiston, whom he married on Oct. 19, 2008; his mother, Beth Sievert of Topsham; his two stepchildren that Andy loved like they were his own, Robi and Saryna Smith; his brothers, Michael and wife, Elaina, of Richmond and Matthew and wife, Patty, of Monmouth; his sister, Amy Barker of Portland; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
