AUGUSTA — Gov.-elect Paul LePage met with 100 businesses leaders to hear what they had to say about state regulations they believe inhibit business growth and job creation.

In a meeting Tuesday at the Augusta Civic Center, the Republican governor-elect asked what state government can do to help them create jobs. The gathering was sponsored by the Maine Business Association Roundtable, a group of lobbyists for chambers of commerce and trade groups representing businesses from contractors to car dealers.

The Portland Press Herald says restaurateur Steve DiMillo urged LePage to avoid passing groundbreaking laws, or as DiMillo put it, “Resist all efforts to create first-in-the-nation anything.”
