DEDHAM, Mass. — Barbara Thurston and Paul Spangle were married July 24 at the MIT Endicott House in Dedham, Mass.  The couple and their families and friends shared a wonderful weekend together on the property.  The ceremony, officiated by Jed Wartman, friend of the couple, took place on the back lawn beneath a canopy of trees and amidst the estate’s expansive gardens, and was followed by a reception in the French-style manor.

The bride is the daughter of Helga Thurston of South Paris and Tom Thurston of Provincetown, Mass. The bridegroom is the son of Mark and Sandy Spangle of Menasha, Wisc.

Standing up in the ceremony for the bridegroom were his brothers and best men, Greg and Brett Spangle, along with brother of the bride, Kevin Thurston, and friends, Rob Sepnafski, Mike Dyer and Patrick Raymond.

The bride was joined by her long-time friends, Kate Benson, serving as maid of honor, and bridesmaids, Erin Hartnett, Diana Blazar and Christine Hollenhorst. Attending in spirit was the bride’s dear friend, Lauren Nassiff, who welcomed her beautiful daughter, Emma, to the world on the morning of the wedding.

The ceremony also featured readings by sisters of the bride, Lissa Merrill and Stefanie Steckerl, godparents of the bridegroom, Ralph and Sue Warner, and groomsman, Rob Sepnafski. Music was provided on guitar and dobro by Steve Thurston, uncle of the bride. Following the wedding, the couple traveled to Kauai and Maui in Hawaii for their honeymoon.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, received a degree in German in 2001 from Bowdoin College and earned her master’s degree in intercultural relations from Lesley University in 2005.
