DEAR SUN SPOTS: What is the best way to tell Time Warner to keep WGME TV-13 on its programming? The phone number we see on the screen of WGME is warning us of a situation where we may not have the station starting Jan. 1. The phone number is only attached to options of changing services.

There are so many great shows on WGME. Why can’t they work things out? It’s just like last year, where they also threatened to take WGME off again. I like Time Warner as my cable and Internet server. Do any other readers feel the same way? Can you get the word out?

All those prime time shows on 13 like “CSI,” “Survivor,” etc., are top shows to that channel, and I’m sure Time Warner would lose a lot of subscribers because of those shows. — No Name, Greene

ANSWER: Sun Spots put your question to Time Warner along with the one posed by the following letter writer. The official’s response below addresses both issues.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I haven’t been able to get Channel 60 lately. It’s the Christian channel TBN on television. I have tried to call Time Warner Cable about it, but all I get is a recording that tells me to press buttons.

I would like to talk to somebody about why we’re not getting it. I miss getting some of my favorite programs. Can you please find out if we are going to get it again? Thank you? — No Name, Jay

ANSWER: Sun Spots e-mailed with Andrew Russell, communications and public affairs specialist, Time Warner Cable in Portland:

“Thanks for forwarding this question. We appreciate the opportunity to respond for your column.

“From time to time we make changes to our channel lineups in order to provide new channel offerings. In this case, Trinity (TBN) was relocated last summer from Channel 60 on the Classic tier to Channel 112 on the Digital tier, and is available as part of our Digital Cable package.

“Since that change, we’ve added a dozen new high-definition channels in your area — Comedy HD, Spike HD, CMT HD, Nick HD, Cooking HD, History HD, Hallmark HD, National Geographic HD, DIY HD, VH1 HD, EWTN HD and Discovery HUB HD. Notices of programming changes are published on the first and third Wednesdays of each month in several local newspapers and on our website — www.timewarnercable.com/northeast.

“As with any customer service helpline, callers to Time Warner Cable must first press a button or two or leave a voice prompt, but once they do they’ll be connected with a live representative at our Portland Customer Care Center.

“Finally, as you know, Sinclair Broadcasting (which owns WGME-TV) has threatened to black out WGME’s signal to our customers if we do not agree to a new contract by Dec. 31. We are committed to continuing negotiations with Sinclair on behalf of our customers.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On WMGX 93.1 radio in Portland,GX 93, there was an announcer named Tim Wright on in the morning. One morning I was listening to it and did not hear his voice. Could you tell me what happened? Thank you. — Melinda, [email protected]

ANSWER: According to an Aug. 17 Portland Press Herald story at http://tinyurl.com/2wntvp5, Tim Wright left the Coast morning show:

“The station’s president, Cary Pahigian, confirmed Tuesday that Wright is no longer with the show but would not provide details.

“Wright, 48, did not want to discuss details of his departure either. But he did say his stint at the station had been ‘a fun 15 years’ and that he enjoyed working with his long-time co-host, Eva Matteson.”

“… Wright, a Lewiston native, first became a morning host on WMGX in 1995. … Before working at WMGX, Wright had also worked at WBLM (102.9 FM) as well as at stations in Lewiston.”
