LEWISTON — Philibert G. Dionne, 84, of Lewiston, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Russell Park Manor surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Berlin, N.H., March 9, 1926, a son of Arthur and Nelida (Arsenault) Dionne. He lived in Berlin for 16 years before moving to Lewiston.

On Nov. 19, 1949, he married the love of his life, Antoinette Phillippon, and together they raised their family in Lewiston for the past 61 years. He worked in the maintenance department of the Hill Mill for more than 20 years before retiring at the age of 71. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish until it’s closing and was presently a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He and Antoinette had a very special camp at Muskegon, where for 30 years they enjoyed spending time together and with their friends the Sedgeleys. For several years, he was a foster grandparent for several children. This was something he loved doing and the children in turn loved him and referred to him lovingly as “Pepere Phil.”

Philibert is survived by three daughters, Lucille Dick of Auburn, Claire Dobbs and her companion, Earle Belanger, of Minot and Theresa Andoniades of Lewiston; two sons, Normand Dionne of Biddeford and Lionel Dionne of Lewiston; one sister, Bernadette Cyr; one brother, Omer Dionne; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph; five sisters, Rose Anna Roy, Anita Doherty, Jeanette Rioux, Rita Cote and Doris Deraps; and one brother, Leopold Dionne.
