PORTLAND — Pauline J. Nadeau, 67, of Lyman, died at the Maine Medical Center on Dec. 9.

She was born in Springfield, Vt., Jan. 4, 1943, the daughter of Joseph R. and Marie L. (Blais) Jalbert and soon moved with her family to Biddeford. Pauline was a graduate of St. Mary’s Nursing School, in Lewiston, and worked for many years providing care and comfort to her patients.

While out dancing with some friends, she met her future husband, Roland Nadeau, who asked her for a dance and she politely said, “No.” From that night forward, Roland was smitten and they married in 1963. Together, they would become parents to four children and remained united as a couple through thick and thin. Pauline was very protective of her family and her children knew they were loved. Many of her cherished memories came from taking trips together as a family.

More than 20 years ago, she and her husband moved to Maine. They owned and operated the Goodwin Mills General Store for 10 years. With Pauline’s fun loving nature and generous ways, she looked forward to the regulars and would share in a good joke or story. Pauline served on the Board of Selectman for the Town of Lyman and worked tirelessly in fundraising for the Community Library.

Pauline loved to have a good time and she was a friend to many. With her maternal instincts, she cared and gave of her self unconditionally. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roland Nadeau of Lyman; her daughter, Marie A. Nadeau of Lyman; her son, Roland Nadeau Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Massachusetts; her six grandchildren, Nicholas, Donald, Christopher, Daniela, Michaela and Zander; her daughter-in-law, Angela Nadeau-Mason of Virginia; two sisters, Denise Cadorette of Maine, and Jeanine Johnson of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Nadeau in 1966; her son, Michael D. Nadeau in 2009; and her siblings, Lydia Ploude, Huguette Cote, Yolande Berger and Paul Jalbert.
