AUBURN — Lorraine Dora Martineau, 78, of Lewiston, passed away Dec. 17, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Lorraine was born in Lewiston on July 22, 1932, the daughter of late Edmond and Germaine (Laroche) Mercier. She married Gerard Martineau on Dec. 30, 1950, and was married for 46 years until his passing in 1997.
You are our special mother, touching our hearts like no other, given to us from God above. Thank you for your sweet love. We have learned so much from you and have come to depend on your love and understanding. We are so grateful to have had you in our lives. Thank you for the connection that allowed us to experience your unconditional love.
Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Gloria St. Pierre and her husband, Bert, Jeanne d’Arc Ouellette and her husband, Mike, Therese Howell, Gerard and wife, Susan, Normand and wife, Christina; 12 grandchildren, Jill, Ann, Bridget, Kristopher, Greg, Jason, Catina, Benjamin, Cora, Emma, Samantha and Eve; 15 great-grandchildren, with another due in March; brother, Roger Mercier; and sister, Cecile Pawluc.
Besides her husband, Gerard, she was predeceased by a daughter, Irene Martineau, on Jan. 12, 1983; her brother Armond; and her sisters, Laurette Plante and Yvette McPherson.
The Martineau family would like to thank the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of their mother.
