BANGOR — Lewiston dominated in the third period with 25 shots on goal as the Blue Devils notched a 6-1 triumph over Bangor in ice hockey action Tuesday.
Senior forwards Sam Cloutier and Colt Steele netted a pair of goals and had an assist each for the Blue Devils (3-0-1). Ben Wigant provided much of the offensive support with three assists.
Zack Papsadora scored the lone Bangor goal midway through the first period for a brief 1-1 tie. The Rams (3-1) played tough through a scoreless second period, but ran out of steam in the final frame, giving up four tallies.
Goalie Chris Howat made 39 saves for Bangor, while Cam Poussard earned the win in net for Lewiston with 21 saves.
Boys’ basketball
Oak Hill 49, Medomak Valley 46
WALES — Senior guard Cam Morin scored a team-high 17 points to lead Oak Hill to a 49-46 victory over Medomak Valley in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Raiders (1-2) were trailing by 11 points entering the fourth quarter, but reversed fortunes with a 23-9 run. Morin posted 12 of his 17 points in the final frame along with five steals and five reounds.
Trevor Samson chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds for Oak Hill.
Sophomore center John Murray recorded a game-high 18 points for the Panthers (1-3), while Isaac Greenrose added 10 points in the losing effort.
Dirigo 60, Madison 34
MADISON —? Dirigo jumped out to a 15-6 advantage in the first quarter and raced away to a convincing 60-34 victory over Madison in MVC boys’ basketball action.
The Cougars extended the lead to 34-20 by halftime and 50-30 after three quarters.
Cody St. Germain led the Cougars (4-0) with 21 points, while Spencer Ross chipped in with 12 and Ben Holmes added 10.
Ian Hartigan led Madison with 10 points.
Poland 43, Old Orchard 41
OLD ORCHARD BEACH ? Drew Peterson nailed a jump shot with seven seconds left in regulation to lift Poland to a 43-41 victory over Old Orchard Beach in an WMC boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
Jake Littlefield led the Knights (1-4) with 17 points, including three from outside the arc. Logan Nichols also contributed with nine points.
The Seagulls (3-1) were paced by Rajeem Lang with a game-high 19 points, while Nate Dow chipped in with 10. The two squads stayed within two points through three quarters of play.
Gray-NG 58, Fryeburg 54
FRYEBURG — Senior guard Adam Jensen netted a game-high 26 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 58-54 triumph over Fryeburg.
The Patriots led 24-22 at the half. Ryan Cavallaro contributed 15 points, while Josh Farynaz chipped in with 11 points.
The Raiders played exceptionally hard, but couldn’t make any inroads during the second half. Colby Lock had a team-high 18 points on eight field goals and two baskets from the charity stripe.
Mt. Ararat 44, Oxford Hills 40
TOPSHAM — Josh Wright was on fire from three-point range, hitting five times from beyond the arc to help Mt. Ararat to a 44-40 come-from-behind win over Oxford Hills in a KVAC showdown Tuesday.
Mt. Ararat’s Josh Walker led all players with 16 points, while Luke Liedman chipped in with 13 for the Eagles (3-1).
Josh McDonald led the Vikings (2-2) with nine points, including seven from the free throw line.
