RUMFORD — Cameron Kaubris notched a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as Mountain Valley crushed Mt. Abram 88-28 in MVC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Falcons (5-0) got hot with outside shooting in the second quarter and scored 35 points to take a 46-14 lead at the half. Sophomore forward Jacob Theriault recorded a game-high 20 points for Mtn. Valley.

Mtn. Valley remained strong in the third quarter with 29 points. Zach Radcliffe contributed 17 points, while Isaac Roberts posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons.

Senior forward Ross Mitchell led the Roadrunners (0-5) on offense with eight points in the losing effort.

Rangeley 64, Pine Tree 46

FAIRFIELD — Alex Morton poured in a game-high 25 points to lead Rangeley to a 64-46 victory over Pine Tree Academy in a boy’s basketball matchup Wednesday.

The undefeated Lakers (4-0) jumped out to a 18-10 lead in the firt quarter and were never challenged. Zeek Hall chipped in with 21 points in what was primarily a two-man attack.

Pine Tree (0-4) was paced by Tim McGuire with 24 points, 20 of which were scored in the first half. Aaron Olsen chipped in with 16 points, including 10 in the second half.

Telstar 53, Jay 36

JAY ? Telstar outscore their opponent 23-14 in the second half and pulled away to a convincing 53-36 victory over Jay in a MVC boy’s basketball matchup Wednesday.

Dan Vaughn led the undefeated Rebels (5-0) with 18 points, while Ben Field chipped in with 15. Telstar held a slim eight-point advantage at the half before Jay’s offense fell flat.

The Tigers (2-3) were paced by James Barker with a nine-point effort, while Zack Bonnevie chipped in with seven.

Rangeley 45, Pine Tree 17

FAIRFIELD — Rangeley put up more points in the first quarter than their opponent did in the entire game, coasting to an easy 45-17 victory over Pine Tree Academy in EWC girl’s basketball action Wednesday.

The Lakers (4-0) were led by Sierra Marchacos with a game-high 13 points, while Emily Carrier chipped in with 10 points and five steals.

Hannah Koester led Pine Tree Academy with six points.

Poland/Gray-NG 4, Fryeburg 2

FRYEBURG — After trailing by a goal early in the third period, Poland/Gray-New Gloucester netted three goals in a six minute span to come away with a 4-2 win over Fryeburg in boys’ hockey action Wednesday.

Kolby Arnold gave Poland/GNG a 1-0 lead in the first period before Fryeburg tied things up with the first of his two goals just six minutes later. Fryeburg surged ahead when LeGoff tallied again with an assist from Tyler Hamden.

Nevin Rand, Tyler Lafrinia and Adam Healy all tallied in Poland’s big push to regain control. Matt Ouellette made 21 saves for Poland/GNG, while Tyler LeGoff turned aside 24 shots between the pipes for Fryeburg.

Edward Little 8, Skowhegan 3

AUBURN — Junior forward Jared Pelletier and sophomore forward Drew Lupardo netted two goals and three assists each to lead Edward Little to an 8-3 victory over Skowhegan in boys’ ice hockey action Wednesday.

The Red Eddies (3-1) came out flying in the first period, scoring five goals for a 5-1 lead after one. Senior forward Cody Russell contributed two goals and two assits for Edward Little.

Left wing Cam Despres paced the Indians (0-3) with two goals in the losing effort.

Goalie Sam Edmonson made 17 saves for Skowhegan, while Rich Belanger secured the win in net for Edward Little with 26 saves.
