RUMFORD — Rhoda Bernice Wing, 84, formerly of Dixfield, died late Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Rumford Community Home, where she had resided for the last three years.

She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Mt. Desert Island, a daughter of Oscar and Luella (Staples) Grindle. On Nov. 27, 1944, she married Willard E. Wing Sr. in Portland. He died in 1986.

Mrs. Wing was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading the Bible. She dearly loved the Lord.

She is survived by a son, Willard Jr. of Oakland; two daughters, Ethelyn Phillips of Northfield, N.H., and Carol Tainter of Kenner, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Clara.
