This is in response to the letter from Freeman Lewis, printed Dec. 26. I am equally mad as hell about the prices of K-1, gasoline, groceries, etc., that people try to buy.
A few days ago I paid $3.119 a gallon for K-1 — the same price as gasoline. That is ridiculous.
I would really like to know what the independent oil companies pay per gallon when they buy it — before it gets to the public. One oil company, I won’t say which one, was charging 30 cents more per gallon for K-1. They are all a little of both rotten and greedy.
Government officials said that price indexing showed no increase, so there would be no cost-of-living increase in Social Security and government pensions for at least two years. But the price of gasoline went up by 48 cents from last year.
Does anybody really think the politicians we elected into office care anything about us out here trying to survive? I really don’t think so.
One last thing — the Republicans have an idea up their sleeves. They got the tax credit for the rich extended for two years, hoping that at that time they will get rid of Barack Obama and a Republican will take his place as president. They hope to make the tax credits for the rich permanent.
