LEWISTON — Roger R. Pruneau, 91, a resident of 550 College St., died unexpectedly Friday morning at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion following hip surgery earlier this week

He was born in Bath Dec. 2, 1919, the son of Alfred and Clara (Nadeau) Pruneau.

He was a 1936 graduate of Lewiston High School and attended Bliss College. Following his education, he served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After the war, he was employed as a ticket agent for the Maine Central Railroad; then was employed as a manager of W. E. Cloutier for a short time. His last position was as Director of Lewiston Public Works until his retirement. After retirement, he relocated to Cape Coral, Fla., as a full-time resident for over 20 years.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Pruneau and his wife, Bee Harvey, of Lebanon, N.H.; three daughters, Irene Pruneau MacDougall and her husband, Stephen, of Lewiston, Jane Pruneau Cyr and her husband, Rusty, of Lewiston, and Mona Pruneau Lamb and her husband, Bruce, of Shapleigh. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Lauren and Evan Cyr, as well as Ethan, Jordan, and Ali Lamb.

Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by his first wife, the former Muriel Lavoie; and his second wife, the former Reinette (Fortin) Roy; as well as a sister, Marguerite Sirois.
