AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Do-It-Yourself Public Relations” from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays, Feb. 11 through 25. The cost, $175, includes materials.
In the interactive program, participants will learn how to write press releases and tout what’s “newsworthy” about their nonprofit or business. At the same time, the class will boost participants’ writing confidence to capture space on editorial pages.
The course is ideal for owners and managers of small businesses or nonprofits or marketing directors who are responsible for their company’s public relations efforts.
The course will be facilitated by Dave Griffiths, a freelance writer and editor who provides writing training, presentation skills training and media relations training for clients ranging from the U.S. Coast Guard to the Red Cross to the Department of Homeland Security. He has a degree in English from the University of Virginia and a masters in journalism from the University of Missouri.
