PARIS — Girl Scouts of Maine will offer a six-week“Sewing 101” series for girls in grades six to eight at Oxford Hills Middle School.

The girls will learn basic sewing techniques, including hand sewing, machine sewing, how to use a pattern and how to handle different textures.

During the series girls will participate in a community service project while honing their new skills. Other projects will include a jean patchwork pillow, a pin cushion or a project of their choice.

The program will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. one day a week for six weeks starting in March. All girls in grades six to eight are welcome to participate. The program will be free for registered Girl Scouts and $12 membership fee for non-Girl Scouts. Assistance is available for the fee.
