BETHEL — Monday, the Bethel Town Office opened back up by appointment only after being closed to the public last week. An office employee had tested positive for the virus early last week, according to the town’s Facebook page. Currently, only one employee had tested positive for the virus.
Town Manager Loretta Powers said the office is currently doing appointment only “to see how it works for a couple of days.”
A deep clean of the office was done last week.
Transactions can be done online, by mail or people can use the dropbox located outside the office. People can call 207-824-2669 for any assistance.
The selectboard meeting, originally scheduled for February 1, has been postponed to Monday, Feb. 8.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
