Merle Chaplin
AUGUSTA – Merle Chaplin, 77, of Augusta passed away on March 4, 2021 with his loving wife Marge by his side. Merle was born August 20, 1943 to Annie and Mainard Chaplin. Merle graduated from Bridgton High School in 1961. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and served four years as an Admin. Specialist/Clerk Typist. He worked for the State of Maine Highway Dept., the Giant Store and for many years at the University of Southern Maine. He was predeceased by his parents Mainard and Annie Chaplin; a brother Wayne Chaplin, half-sister Marian Leavitt; and stepson David Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife Marge; two children Lisa Hill of Kearsarge, N.H. and son Rick Chaplin of Newcastle, his two stepchildren, Sharon and partner Tina, Todd and partner Kathy, all of Augusta. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. At this time there will be no service.
