Sylvia Mae Tardif

AUBURN – Sylvia Mae Tardif “Nana”, 89, passed away at home on March 26, 2021 following a short battle with cancer. She was born on Christmas Day 1931, to parents, Laura Mae Sanborn Riley and Frank William Riley. She graduated from Sabattus High School in 1949, one of eight students. She married Valmont John Tardif Jr. in 1952 and had three children, John, Anna Mae and Tim. She worked at Pecks Department Store, Lou Rod Candy, the family construction business and the family seafood restaurant, Creamers. First and foremost she was a devoted mom and nana, always there to help out her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In retirement she went back to her true love of being around children working and helping out at Tiny Toes Preschool up until December 2020. Sylvia loved to laugh and have fun. She had endless energy and was always ready for a new adventure; she never seemed to slow down. She loved travelling, a good party and playing with children. She acted as a taxi driver, enjoyed running errands and babysitter for her family. Even as others slowed down, she was still visiting her girlfriends in nursing homes and taking others out for rides and lunch. Sylvia touched the hearts of everyone she met. She will forever be remembered by her family and friends young and old. Heaven has gained a wonderful new angel. She was predeceased by her husband, Valmont John Tardif Jr. and later longtime companion, John Clements; son, John Thomas Tardif; sister, Joyce Salk, and brother, Frank Sanborn Riley. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Mae Crowley and husband Tony, Lewiston, and son, Tee Timothy Tardif and fiancé Stefanie, Yarmouth, daughter-in-law, Debbie Tardif, Sabattus; grandchildren, Missy, Josh, Mjae, Brooke, Destiny, Kylie, Tucker, Blaise; and great-grandchildren, Cj, Kaylee, Storm, Olivia, Charlotte, Brennan, Caed, Cohven, Crew, Caisyn, Deagan, Kenlie, Max, Sylvie, Griffin, Emma Kate, Ayla and Mason.Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 30, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with service to follow at Albert and Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, ME 04240A graveside service and burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sabattus will be held at a later date.
