LEWISTON — Joan Harding, 78, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Central Maine Medical Center due to complications of diabetes.

She was born in Lewiston, July 15, 1932, the daughter of Elmer Carr born in Presque Isle, and Alice Hamilton, born in Lewiston.

She was married to Edward Allen, David Wood and Delbert Harding on Sept. 30, 1961, and he died on Dec. 17, 1996.

She was employed at Silver Dollar as a waitress in her younger years. She has lived at various addresses throughout Lewiston and Auburn her whole life.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and growing plants.

She attended Eastgate Christian Fellowship Church in New Gloucester, when she could.

She is survived by her children, Elmer Allen of Lewiston, Robert Wood of Jerome Ariz., Rose Wood of Auburn, Gladys and her husband, Rick Costa, of Turner, Delbert Harding of Biddeford and Timothy and his wife, Jeanne Harding, of Lebanon; 25 grandchildren; siblings, Gladys, Eddie, Pat, Ronald, Gloria and Patty; and close friends Lucille and Ernie Ouellette and Sylvia Herrick.
