AUBURN — Barbara A. Burke, 82, of Caron Lane, formerly of 82 Depot Road, Falmouth, died Sunday morning, Feb. 6, after a period of failing health at the Odd Fellows Home.
Born in Portland on May 16,1928, the daughter of the late Elmer and Thelma (Ross) Hoyt. She had special memories of spending summers on Chebeague Island with “Grammie” Hamilton. She was a 1945 graduate of Deering High School. She was a homemaker married to Joseph R. Burke who predeceased her on Feb. 3, 1992 after 43 years of marriage.
She enjoyed being by the ocean, keeping up with the latest fashions, reading, and driving her VW Bug, weekend trips to North Conway, N.H., and annual trips to Clearwater, Fla., with Joe.
She is survived by her son, David Burke, and his children, Jennifer, Kim and Jeffrey; daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Lambert, and her children, Amy Greenwald and David (Karen) Greenwald; and son, Robert (Denise) Burke; and by five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janice (John) MacChesney, of New Jersey, and her brother, Royal (Sarah) Hoyt, of Westbrook; and by cousins, niece, and nephews.
