TEMPLE — Doreen “Dody” Hellgren, 53, of Temple passed away Monday, Feb. 28, at her home following a long illness.

She was born Nov. 2, 1957, in Farmington, the daughter of Homer W. and Ruth A. (Witham) Goodwin Jr. She graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1975.

On Nov. 13, 1989, Dody married Toby Hellgren in Temple. She was a homemaker, taking care of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and nieghborhood kids. She enjoyed brook fishing and riding the back roads of Temple and sometimes venturing out of town. She loved her cats Friskie and Callie, playing Scrabble, cribbage, and poker (all of which she excelled at), but most importantly she loved her granddaughters, Mackenzie and Paityn.

Dody is survived by her husband, Toby; her parents; her daughter, Heather Hellgren of West Farmington; a stepdaughter, Kristin Hellgren of Minnesota; a stepson, Erik Hellgren and his wife, Angela, of Missouri; two granddaughters, MacKenzie and Paityn; five stepgrandchildren, Terrell, Travelle, Emani, Kalise and Laquan; three sisters, Darcea Smith of Chicago, Laurie Goodwin of Lewiston and Dina Goodwin-Short of Phillips; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her extended family from New Jersey.

She was predeceased by a special friend she considered a brother, Tony Gatto; and her mother and father-in-law, Bertha and Vilio Hellgren.
