Norman R. Maxwell
LEWISTON – Norman R. Maxwell, 87, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and lifelong resident of Wales, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born March 6, 1934, in Wales, the son of Clifton Maxwell and Tessie (Ridlon) Maxwell. He attended schools in Wales. On Sept. 6, 1957, in Wales, he married Shirley E. Blaisdell. They enjoyed 61 years together before her passing on Aug. 27, 2019. Norman worked for Livermore Shoe, and as a farm hand for Norman Hinkley. He then went to work for the State of Maine Department of Transportation for 28 years. He will be remembered as a very hard worker and provider for his family. Norman loved his agricultural fairs and watching horse pulling. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR. You would see him sitting in his Cabela’s camp chair daily in the sun doing his word search book, while watching the cars go by.
He is survived by his son, Randy (AnnMarie), his daughter, Wanda Toolin (Frank), grandson, Cody Cyr, granddaughter, Caitlyn Cyr, twin sister, Norma Linton (Dale), sister-in-law, Barbara Robitaille (Richard), brother-in-law, Richard Blaisdell (Deneige), sister-in-law, Donna Lehl (Richard), sister-in-law, Nancy Blaisdell, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, brother, Wesley, sisters, Lillian, Ruth, Shirley, Pauline, Pearl and brother-in-law, Ronald Blaisdell. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Valley Cemetery, Route 202, Greene, Maine, with a Celebration of Life gathering following the service. Arrangements by BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.
