GREENE — The upcoming weekend looks to be a busy one for voters.

In addition to a long list of routine matters on the annual town meeting warrant Saturday, voters are expected to decide whether to spend $350,000 on a new firetruck.

On Friday, voters will elect a pair of selectmen, positions that include assessor and overseer of the poor, as well as a SAD 52 director.

Current Selectmen Mark Christman and Tony Reny are running unopposed for re-election, as is school board member Jon Woodward.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At the town meeting Saturday, one possible point of contention is the decision on whether to spend as much as $350,000 for a new firetruck. Selectmen have recommended that amount. The Budget Committee recommends $278,000.

The town will also discuss whether to sell or trade existing fire equipment to help pay for the new truck.

Also on the slate, a vote on whether to enact a flea market ordinance, which would regulate vehicle access and use of property where flea markets are held regularly, and how much to appropriate for parks and recreation.

Town officials will also discuss whether a mass-gathering ordinance should be enacted. The purpose: to address matters of traffic congestion, crowd control, health and sanitation, compliance with alcohol and drug laws and the protection of public and private property at any outdoor gathering that attracts at least 500 people.

Matters of paving, dumping, animal control and cemetery care are also among the 56 items on the town warrant.
