FARMINGTON — Jo-Anne Bean Palmer has announced winners from the 8th Annual Farmington Earth Day cleanup held Thursday, April 22. Two winners each will be highlighted in the Livermore Falls Advertiser and The Franklin Journal in the next two weeks.

Farmington’s dedicated Earth Day cleanup volunteers turned out in freezing temps, strong winds and the occasional flurry for some brisk outdoor exercise and to make a difference.
Target areas for cleanup included Hippach Field, The Whistlestop Trail, the Park and Ride, Front Street and Middle Street. Cleanup continued over the weekend with volunteers on Mosher Hill and other more distant neighborhoods.

The volunteers worked hard to clean Farmington, its waterways and woods of litter and to protect wildlife from the harmful effects of plastic in their habitat.
Several volunteers mentioned they routinely pick up litter as they walk around their neighborhoods, Palmer noted.
Farmington Public Works Department provided bags and gloves for the volunteers and handled the logistics of transporting the litter. County Seat Realty printed posters.
“The Downtown Association provided great support as did the Farmington Town Office with their friendly and professional assistance to make the cleanup an annual success,” Palmer said.
