LIVERMORE — On June 2 and 3, students at the Spruce Mountain Primary School held outdoor concerts to celebrate making it through a very unique school year.

The half hour concerts were held under a large tent. Each student could invite two people to attend. The concerts were also recorded for those who couldn’t attend.

“It’s been my privilege to teach them the joy of music,” teacher Jan Gill told the guests at the first concert Wednesday morning.

That concert featured second grade students in Mrs. Gould’s and Mrs. McPherson’s cohort A classes.

As part of the concert, Amiyah Brown sang a solo then accompanied singer Nathaniel Frank on drums. Soloist Stella Harris was accompanied by her grandfather Ian Barclay on a double neck Ovation guitar.

It features both 12-string and 6-string, is two guitars in one, Gill said in a phone interview Monday. It sounded really cool, she noted.

Don and Linda Leblanc and their grandson Christopher Floyd also performed in the concert, sometimes with the students singing along with them.

Later concerts Wednesday featured cohort A students in the other second grades, two groups of kindergarten students and then two groups of first graders. Six concerts for similar grades in cohort B were held Thursday.
