My guess is that the new currency of the term has much to do with Trump’s first wave of cabinet nominees for his second administration.

Rich Lowry: The age of whispered conversations
Surveys show that Americans are now afraid of speaking their minds, and for good reason. Livelihoods and reputations can be destroyed by an ill-considered comment or social media post, so the vast majority of people keep their heads down, even if they are mystified or appalled by what they are witnessing.
Froma Harrop: Recalling the jihad against Martha Stewart
She was tenacious. So, what? Male executives wore that badge proudly. This woman built a business empire based on creating artistic cheese trays and making wreaths from dry leaves. Try that, Elon Musk.
Austin Bay: Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon fix-it list
Based on what he’s done in battle as well as said on the record, Hegseth understands the Pentagon’s Job One is fielding an American military that is stronger, better prepared and deadlier than any other military on the planet.

Carl Bucciantini: Greene residents should have been more civil, respectful at meeting
On Nov. 18 the town of Greene held a special town meeting to act on an amendment to the town’s solar ordinance. The town meeting form of government is democracy at its purest. Residents gather to discuss and to act upon the affairs of the town; yes, tempers may flare, but the overall tone is […]

The informative, concise letter by Dave Griffiths, highlighting many of Donald Trump’s horrid comments over the years, was depressingly revealing (“So much for American exceptionalism,” Nov. 12). Any couple of them should severely question the “content of one’s character,” as Martin Luther King Jr. observed, and send him to the proverbial showers, not to the […]
Cal Thomas: To vet or not to vet
Suggestions that the Senate and House should adjourn for 10 days to allow president-elect Trump’s nominees to sail through without hearings is a bad idea that could come back to haunt Trump, his administration and the public.
