Beaver Park in Lisbon commissioned a wood carving of its namesake. The chainsaw carving took Greg Waters five hours to make at home. It required thawing the log, sanding, carving, and using beaver pictures to sculpt the beaver. Waters, who owns Riverside Wood Carving in Lisbon, was on hand Saturday in Lisbon to offer a chainsaw sculpting demonstration.
Ben Nugent, a local wildlife biologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, points out that white birch makes great fire wood during a snowshoe nature walk Saturday. The walk was part of the Winter Fest celebration at Beaver Park in Lisbon.
