Volunteers delivered about 120 meals to those in need, Pastor John Robbins said. Thursday was the first time for Griffin, Foss and Nadeau, all of Lewiston, helping out at Hope Haven on Thanksgiving. "It is an opportunity to give back for all the blessings that I have received," Nadeau said.

Griggs put the first of 20 turkeys in the oven at 3 a.m. Tuesday, cooking steady for the next several days, to get ready to feed the less fortunate. "No chance of going on auto pilot here," Griggs said. "I have had a pot and a half of coffee and I still have my Mountain Dew." Griggs had been in the kitchen since 2:30 a.m.
