Craig Millett, right, checks a bucket on his property in Hartford Sunday morning while collecting sap with his two sons. One of them, David, checks another in the background. They didn't get much and they don't see this being a good year for sap to make their syrup. "Like always, we'll get what we get. It's just something to do that we have been doing for the past 10-15 years. It gets us outside. We don't make much, just enough for the family and a few friends," Craig said.

There was not much and they don't see this being a good year for sap. "We'll get what we get. It's just something to do that we have been doing for the past 10-15 years. It gets us outside. Wayne Slattery adjusts the flow of sap into his West Minot Sugarhouse in Minot, Maine on Saturday morning, March 20, 2021 as the lines and vaccuum pump system begins to thaw. The sap has not been running well but Slattery hopes the next few warm days and cold nights will help as they have 1,000 less gallons of syrup now than they had last year. While they are participating in next week's Maple Weekend, it will be without the panckake breakfast, wagon rides and entertainment like years past.
