A hole cut out of ice on Keewaydin Lake in Stoneham on Tuesday. Vermont artist Eric Aho, some members of the community and friends cut out the “H” shaped hole earlier in the day in an attempt to re-create the scene from the 1908-09 painting “The Ice Hole, Maine,” by Marsden Hartley. Aho dedicated the day to Danny H. Barker, who passed away last year. He was a Stoneham resident, teacher, local historian and a friend.
