A child’s discomfort should never be confused with danger.

A bill that would prevent ICE agents from entering public schools without a valid judicial warrant would provide just that. It deserves our support.

We strongly encourage Gov. Mills and the Legislature to include $15 million in ongoing funding for the program in the supplemental budget.

We can only hope that the Maine state senator who objected to our use of the word “fascism” during a legislative hearing finds recent abuses by ICE equally offensive.
